10 Amazing Amazon Prime Perks You Don’t Know About

Amazon recently announced that it’s Prime members will soon have access to a new service called Prime Wardrobe.  This service will allow you to select clothes from Amazon to try on without having to purchase them first.  See the video below for more details.

In addition to this new service, here are 10 Prime member benefits that you may not have know about.

1. Unlimited Photo Cloud Storage

Prime Photos is one of my favorite perks of being a Prime member.  Now that all photos are digital, making sure you have a backup is important.  With Prime Photos, Amazon offers unlimited cloud storage for pictures, so you never have to worry about losing those photos again.  The service offers desktop and mobile applications to simplify the process of uploading and sharing your photos.

2. Streaming Video

As you know, I’m a big fan of streaming vs. Cable (as it’s a great way to save money.  Over the years Amazon has grown the content available, including new movies and numerous original shows exclusive to Amazon, on their streaming service.  As a Prime member you have free access to all the content available on Prime Video.  Plus you can add premium channels like Showtime and Starz for an additional monthly fee. Even if you aren’t a Prime member, you can get access to the video service for a monthly fee (Currently $8.99/month).

3. Prime Pantry

Prime Pantry gives you the ability to order groceries for a flat $5.99 fee.  Amazon has slowly been building up their offerings in this space, but now with the purchase of Whole Foods I imagine their selection will increase rather quickly.

4. Streaming Music

Prime Music is Amazon’s answer to other music streaming services like Pandora, Spotify or Apple Music.  With a Prime membership you get this music streaming for free.

5. Local Restaurant Delivery

Amazon Restaurants is great if you want take out, but don’t feel like driving to the restaurant.  If you live in one of the approximately 20 cities that offers this service, you can have food delivered from local restaurants within an hour.  Plus, you receive $10 off your first order.

6. Free Release Date Delivery

Need to have a new book or movie the day it comes out? With an Amazon Prime membership you can preorder a new release and have it on your doorstep the day it comes out.  No more fighting crowds or waiting in line at the store.

7. Free Monthly Ebook

Kindle First is a great way to be the first to read new books.  Each month Amazon makes 6 upcoming books available on the service.  Prime members can download one of these books for free each month.

8. Audible Channels

Audible Channels is a series of playlists handcrafted for specific interests and a variety of original podcast series that are only available on Audible.  Without an Audible membership the only way to listen to them is with a Prime membership.

9. A Digital Library

The Kindle Lending Library is a great resource for avid readers.  If you enjoy reading, but hate the cost of constantly buying new books, the lending library is for you.  They have a wide selection just like a brick and mortar library, and it’s free!

10. Free same-day delivery

Sometimes two-day delivery is just TOO SLOW! Luckily Amazon has recognized this and has aggressively begun rolling out same-day delivery across the US.  While this service is only available in certain cities, the list of locations keeps growing as Amazon continues to expand.

The Value of Prime

This is only a few of the benefits of being a Prime member.  Check out the complete list on Amazon’s site.

While a Prime membership costs $99/year, it is a great value, even if you don’t use all of the services.  Purchased separately,  Prime Video would cost $8.99/month, a music streaming service would be around $10/month and cloud storage for all those pictures could range from a few dollars to $10-20/month depending on how much storage you need.  Add all of this up and you would be paying at least $20/month or $240/year.  With Prime you get all of that for less than half the price, plus all of the other additional services, like Audible Channels and a free Kindle book each month.

If you are still on the fence, you can sign up here for Amazon Prime and receive a 30 day free trial.  Already have Amazon Prime?  Give the gift to someone else!

I’ve had Prime for years and I constantly forget about these extra perks. I mainly use them for the free 2day shipping. I need to start using them, so I can feel like I’m getting all my money’s worth.

Amazon has really been pushing their streaming movies and music as of late I noticed.
